Sudan: The CFJ Condemns Sudanese Army’s Airstrike on Al-Majlad Hospital in Kordofan, Demands Investigation into the Killing of Dr. Mawda Rahmatalla and 30 Others

The Sudanese doctor and humanitarian activist Mawda Rahmatalla was killed as a result of an airstrike carried out by the Sudanese Armed Forces on Al-Majlad Hospital in West Kordofan, targeting Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militias stationed inside the hospital!

Journalistic sources reported that the attack was conducted using drones on Saturday, June 21, 2025, and resulted in the deaths of more than 30 people, including patients and health workers, in addition to partial destruction of the hospital, which was the only functioning medical facility in the area.

The hospital suffered extensive damage, rendering it unable to receive patients amid the dire humanitarian conditions prevailing in West Kordofan, where there is a severe shortage of basic services and a growing number of displaced persons and injured civilians due to ongoing clashes between the Sudanese Army and RSF militias for several weeks.

For its part, the Committee for Justice (CFJ) strongly condemns the incident and demands an immediate and independent investigation to uncover the circumstances of the attack, identify those responsible for targeting the hospital, hold accountable all those involved in committing this crime, and prevent any form of impunity, stressing that attacking medical facilities constitutes a clear violation of international humanitarian law and war crimes that demand accountability.
