Sudan: The CFJ Reports Killing of Doctor and Aid Worker Fardous Al-Tayeb in RSF Shelling on “Abu Shouk” Camp in Darfur

The Committee for Justice (CFJ) has reported the killing of relief activist and doctor Fardous Al-Tayeb Moussa, who was martyred as a result of artillery shelling targeting the “Abu Shouk” camp for displaced persons in Al-Fasher, the capital of North Darfur State.

The committee stated that Dr. “Fardous” was on her way to the health center inside the camp to provide medical assistance to patients, including children, women, and the elderly, when she was struck by intense shelling carried out by forces affiliated with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militias on Friday, April 18, 2025.

The CFJ confirms that the killing of Dr. “Fardous” constitutes a flagrant violation of international humanitarian laws that prohibit the targeting of civilians and humanitarian workers. The committee holds the RSF militias fully responsible for this brutal attack, demanding that the international community and human rights organizations open an investigation into the incident, identify those responsible, and prevent their impunity.

The CFJ also urges the international community to take a firm stance to stop these crimes against humanity, enhance protection for civilians and humanitarian workers in Darfur, and warns that the continuation of international silence exacerbates the humanitarian catastrophe in the region and puts more lives at risk.
