Sudan: The CFJ documents the abduction of Dr. Taher Fadlallah in East Darfur and calls for clarification of his fate

The Committee for Justice (CFJ) has documented the abduction of Dr. Taher Mohamed Fadlallah, an internal medicine consultant at the hospital in Ad-Damazin city, East Darfur State, by an armed group that raided his home and took him to an unknown location.

This abduction led doctors and staff at Ad-Damazin Hospital and health centers to launch a full strike starting Sunday, March 22, in protest against the crime. They held a demonstration rejecting attacks and mistreatment of medical personnel.

The CFJ strongly condemns the abduction of Dr. Fadlallah and holds the Rapid Support Forces militia — which controls the city — fully responsible for his safety and fate, especially in light of the lack of information regarding his current status or the real motives behind his abduction.

The CFJ also demands immediate action to secure his release and calls for an urgent investigation to uncover all circumstances surrounding the incident, as well as to prevent further violations targeting health and humanitarian personnel.
