Sudan: Committee for Justice Documents the Killing of 28 Civilians Following an RSF Attack on Villages in West Bara Locality

The Committee for Justice (CFJ) has documented the killing of at least 28 civilians following an attack carried out by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on the villages of Al‑Marra, Um Saadoun, and Al‑Rada, located in West Bara locality, North Kordofan State, using approximately 20 combat vehicles, according to preliminary information received from the area.

According to CFJ’s documentation, the attack resulted in dozens of civilian casualties amid a state of severe tension and growing fears of renewed violence and its further expansion in the area. Information received also indicates the continued fragility of the security situation around the targeted villages, alongside escalating fears among residents of further violations.

The Committee for Justice is continuing to monitor reports concerning the circumstances of the attack and the scale of human and material losses resulting from it, amid the ongoing armed conflict and the increasing risks faced by civilians in areas of North Kordofan.

CFJ condemns the targeting of civilians and civilian objects, and calls for an independent and transparent investigation into the circumstances of the attack and accountability for those responsible. The Committee also urges the adoption of urgent measures to protect civilians, prevent the recurrence of violations, and ensure the delivery of humanitarian assistance to affected communities.
