The Committee for Justice (CFJ) has documented the death of Adam Abkar Ishaq (67 years old) inside Dagris Prison, a detention facility controlled by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) west of the city of Nyala in South Darfur State, after several months in detention.
According to information documented by CFJ, the family of the deceased stated that Adam Abkar was arrested in January 2026 before being transferred to Dagris Prison in April 2026. The family later learned of his death through a detainee who had recently been released from the prison. Family members reported that his death followed a deterioration in his health condition and that he had been suffering from diabetes.
Available information indicates that Dagris Prison holds large numbers of civilian and military detainees, amid recurring reports of deteriorating humanitarian and health conditions, including overcrowding, inadequate nutrition, and insufficient medical care.
The Committee for Justice calls for the disclosure of the conditions of all detainees held in Dagris Prison, ensuring their access to the necessary medical care, allowing independent humanitarian organizations access to places of detention, and conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding deaths that have occurred inside the facility.
