According to information documented by CFJ, eyewitnesses and relatives of detainees reported cases of worsening health conditions among those held in detention, with some allegedly being denied necessary medical care and prevented from receiving visits from family members, while remaining detained without clarification of their legal status.
Available information also indicates the continuation of restrictions on family visits to detention facilities in Nyala, particularly Dagris Prison, amid difficulties faced by families seeking to communicate with detained relatives. These reports come against the backdrop of previous accounts of deaths inside the prison under deteriorating humanitarian and health conditions.
The Committee for Justice calls for the release of all arbitrarily detained individuals or their referral to judicial proceedings that meet fair trial standards, while ensuring their access to the necessary healthcare, allowing family visits, and granting independent humanitarian organizations access to places of detention in order to monitor the conditions of detainees.
