Geneva – August 10, 2024
The “Committee for Justice” (CFJ) has monitored the killing of Dr. Mohamed Hassan Muslim, a doctor and aid active, in Om Durman, Khartoum State, by forces affiliated with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
According to the Sudanese Doctors’ Union, RSF forces stormed Dr. Muslim’s home on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, and fatally shot him. The union indicated that the targeting was related to his humanitarian and relief activities.
CFJ condemns the killing of Dr. Muslim by RSF forces and calls for an impartial, transparent, and swift investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death. CFJ also demands that those responsible be held accountable and prevented from escaping justice.
Furthermore, CFJ urges all parties involved in the Sudanese conflict to ensure the protection of medical personnel and aid workers, to cease targeting them for their humanitarian efforts, and to create a safe and supportive environment for them to carry out their professional and humanitarian duties.
