Sudan: CFJ condemns targeting of medical staff and facilities in Darfur and calls for their protection amid ongoing conflict

Press Release

The Committee for Justice (CFJ) has monitored that Dr. Mohamed Abdel Rahman, a relief activist and member of the Coordination of Resistance Committees in El Fasher, North Darfur, was injured during clashes between the Sudanese Armed Forces and Rapid Support Forces militias.

According to the committee, Dr. Abdel Rahman sustained an injury resulting in a broken leg, necessitating his transfer to a hospital for treatment.

The injury to Dr. Mohamed Abdel Rahman is part of a series of incidents affecting medical and relief workers, who face increasing risks due to the ongoing conflict in Sudan.

CFJ strongly condemns the targeting of medical facilities and personnel, calling on all parties involved in the Sudanese conflict to protect healthcare workers, facilitate their humanitarian efforts, and shield them from the adverse effects of ongoing hostilities that hinder relief operations and threaten civilian lives.
