The Committee for Justice (CFJ) has documented the death of political detainee Mohamed Sayed Abdel Rahim, aged 47, inside his place of detention at Badr Prison on Tuesday, 16 June 2026, after spending more than twelve years in detention since his arrest on 8 January 2014.
According to information documented by CFJ, Mohamed Sayed Abdel Rahim, a resident of Al‑Dawahi district in Port Said, died inside the prison after years of deprivation of liberty without being able to resume his normal life or reunite with his family.
With this case, the number of deaths documented by the Committee for Justice since the beginning of 2026 inside prisons and detention facilities in Egypt has risen to 26 deaths, following the documentation of 60 deaths during 2025.
