Sudan: Committee for Justice Documents the Killing of Civilians in a Drone Strike on a Village North of Dibaibat, Calls for Urgent Investigation

The Committee for Justice (CFJ) has documented the killing of several civilians following a drone strike carried out by the Sudanese Armed Forces on a village located along the Sa’ata–Algeria road in the northern rural area of Dibaibat, on Saturday. The attack resulted in multiple civilian casualties.

According to CFJ’s findings, the drone strike targeted a residential area inside the village, leading to the deaths of seven civilians, amid fears that the number of victims could rise as military operations continue to affect civilian areas.

CFJ identified the victims as:

  • Hajjaj Mohamed Salem
  • Aza Ali Ismail
  • Samia Ali Abdullah “Al‑Lukhaydir”
  • Mathani Ali Abdullah “Al‑Lukhaydir”
  • Dar Al‑Salam Al‑Lukhaydir
  • Amta Abdelrahim Al‑Tayeb
  • The daughter of Nour Al‑Daeem Barika

The Committee for Justice affirmed that targeting residential areas and launching attacks that harm civilians constitute grave violations of international humanitarian law, which strictly prohibits directing attacks against civilians or exposing them to danger during armed conflict.

CFJ calls for an urgent and independent investigation into the incident, with the aim of establishing the full circumstances of the attack and ensuring accountability for those responsible.
