The Committee for Justice (CFJ) has documented serious attacks targeting civilian facilities in South and West Kordofan States, resulting in deaths and injuries among civilians and health‑care personnel.
According to CFJ, a Rapid Support Forces (RSF) strike targeted the Al‑Kuweik Military Hospital in South Kordofan, killing 22 people, including the hospital’s medical director and four medical staff, and injuring eight others. The attack constitutes a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law, which strictly prohibits targeting medical facilities and healthcare workers.
In a separate incident, 12 civilians, including a woman, were injured when Sudanese Army drones carried out a strike on the Al‑Na’am Market in West Kordofan, causing multiple injuries that required transferring victims to nearby hospitals. The attack demonstrates the continuing dangers caused by strikes on crowded civilian markets.
CFJ stressed that such attacks amount to grave breaches of international humanitarian law, endanger civilian lives, undermine access to healthcare, and may constitute war crimes requiring investigation and accountability.
The committee called on relevant authorities to immediately cease all attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure, ensure the protection of hospitals and markets, and conduct urgent, independent investigations into all incidents. CFJ also emphasized the need to hold perpetrators accountable to ensure adherence to international humanitarian law and safeguard the lives of civilians in Sudan.
