The Committee for Justice (CFJ) has documented a serious incident involving the targeting of a health center in the Hajar al‑Noor neighborhood of Kadugli, following a drone attack carried out by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). The attack resulted in the killing of eight civilians—five children and three women—and the injury of eleven others, in addition to causing extensive damage to the medical facility.
According to CFJ, the attack struck a civilian health center that provides essential medical services to the local population, rendering it completely out of service at a time when the city is already suffering from a severe deterioration in humanitarian and health conditions. Information also indicated that another residential neighborhood in the city was targeted, though no casualties were reported.
CFJ emphasized that targeting medical facilities and civilians—particularly children and women—constitutes a grave violation of international humanitarian law and amounts to a war crime. Medical facilities enjoy special protection and may not be attacked or used for military purposes under any circumstances.
The organization warned of the grave consequences of continued attacks on health facilities in Sudan, noting their catastrophic impact on civilians’ lives and their right to medical care. CFJ stressed that such violations exacerbate the humanitarian crisis and expose the population to compounded risks.
CFJ holds the Rapid Support Forces fully legally responsible for the killing and injury of civilians and the destruction of the health facility. It called for an immediate halt to attacks on civilians and medical infrastructure, respect for the rules of international humanitarian law, and guarantees for the protection of health facilities and medical personnel.
The organization also urged the opening of independent and transparent investigations into the incident, accountability for those responsible, and ensuring that perpetrators of grave violations do not escape punishment. CFJ further called for urgent measures to protect civilians in Kadugli and all conflict‑affected areas.
