The Committee for Justice (CFJ) has documented the arrest of eight teachers and local figures by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Belil locality, South Darfur State—an action that constitutes a clear violation of their fundamental rights and freedoms.
According to CFJ, the detainees are: Mohamed Bashir, Mohamed Ahmed Hamid, Mohamed Abdullah Hassan, Adam Osman, Al-Amin Zaroug Fadl, Abdelazim Saleh Yahya, Adam Mohamed, and Osman Mohamed Zakaria. They were transferred to Dagris Prison west of Nyala, amid reports of pressure and intimidation aimed at forcing them to join RSF.
CFJ notes that these arrests targeted individuals believed to be non-aligned with RSF, representing an unlawful use of detention as a political coercion tool against local citizens.
The Committee calls for the immediate release of all detainees and urges authorities to respect the law and international standards on civil rights, ensuring their safety and protection from any further harm or violations during detention.
