Sudan: Committee for Justice Condemns the Enforced Disappearance of Five Otoro Community Members and Calls for the Immediate Disclosure of Their Fate

The Committee for Justice (CFJ) has condemned the arbitrary arrest and enforced disappearance of five members of the Otoro community by a force affiliated with the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) Intelligence Service in the areas of Mandi and Um Dolo, who have reportedly been held in an undisclosed location since 17 September 2026.

According to information documented by CFJ, the detainees are:

  • Saleh Hassan Kabashi
  • Youssef Hassan Karor
  • Al‑Nour Al‑Masiri
  • Ibrahim Ali Idris
  • Kamal Malak, a healthcare worker

No information has been made available regarding their whereabouts, conditions of detention, or legal status.

The Committee for Justice stressed that the detention of civilians and the concealment of their whereabouts constitute a serious violation of the rights to liberty and personal security, and raise grave concerns regarding their safety and well-being, particularly in light of the continued absence of information concerning their fate.

CFJ calls for the immediate disclosure of the detainees’ whereabouts, guarantees for their physical and psychological safety, and the facilitation of communication with their families and legal representatives.

The Committee further calls for their immediate release unless they are charged with recognizable criminal offenses and afforded all guarantees of a fair and impartial trial in accordance with applicable legal standards and international human rights principles.
