The Committee for Justice (CFJ) has documented reports indicating the deterioration of the health conditions of three journalists detained by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in the city of Nyala, South Darfur State, since February 2026.
According to information released by the Sudanese Journalists Syndicate, the detained journalists are Ishraga Abdel Rahman, a radio presenter at Nyala Radio; Zahraa Mohamed Al‑Hassan, a radio correspondent; and Mawahib Ibrahim, a radio correspondent. The Syndicate stated that it had received information indicating a decline in their health conditions during their detention.
The Committee for Justice calls for the immediate release of the detained journalists, or their referral to legal proceedings that comply with fair trial standards, while ensuring that they receive the necessary medical care and treatment.
CFJ further stresses the importance of respecting the rights, safety, and freedom of journalists in accordance with obligations established under international human rights law, and calls for guarantees protecting media professionals from arbitrary detention and restrictions related to their professional activities.
