Egypt: Committee for Justice Welcomes Improvement in Conditions of Political Detainees at 10th of Ramadan Women’s Prison and Calls for Its Continuation

The Committee for Justice (CFJ) has welcomed the notable improvement it has documented in living conditions and treatment practices inside the Women’s Prison in the 10th of Ramadan City, as observed during recent visits by political detainees and their families.

CFJ noted that this improvement comes after years of serious violations suffered by women detainees, both in terms of detention conditions and the manner in which they were treated.

The committee stressed the importance of maintaining and consolidating these positive steps to ensure that all women detainees fully enjoy their rights as guaranteed by the Egyptian Constitution, the law, and the Prisons Internal Regulations—in a manner that guarantees dignified, humane treatment and full respect for their fundamental rights without discrimination or reduction.
