The Committee for Justice (CFJ) has documented the death of political detainee Omar Al‑Farouk Ahmed Abdullah while attending his trial session before the Samalout Criminal Court.
According to the information documented by CFJ, the death occurred inside the courtroom during the session, under circumstances that have not yet been fully clarified. This was reported by lawyer Khaled Al‑Koumi via his Facebook account, where he stated that he was present with the defendant during the hearing at the moment the death occurred.
With this incident, the number of deaths documented by the Committee for Justice since the beginning of 2026 inside prisons and detention facilities in Egypt rises to 20 deaths, following the documentation of 60 deaths during 2025.
