Egypt: CFJ observes protest by workers of “National Fisheries CO.” at Burullus Ghalioun and affirms its solidarity with their demands

Press Release

The Committee for Justice (CFJ) observed a protest organized by workers of the National Fisheries Company at the Burullus Ghalioun project in Kafr El Sheikh Governorate. The workers were demanding their rights, including receiving their due profit shares and improving their social and health conditions.

Response to some demands:

The protest is part of ongoing demands by the workers for better social and health insurance, transportation to ease their commute to work, and an end to the delays in issuing security permits. In a statement on his personal Facebook page, MP Mohamed Abdel Aleem Daoud confirmed that the company has responded to some of these demands, agreeing to pay the workers’ profit shares and promising to implement a system for career advancement and address the remaining issues related to improving the work environment.

Human rights solidarity and calls for respecting workers’ rights:

It is worth noting that the National Fisheries Company, established in November 2014 and affiliated with the National Service Projects Organization, oversees numerous fish farming projects aimed at enhancing food security and achieving self-sufficiency in Egypt’s fish resources.

CFJ expressed its full solidarity with the workers’ demands, emphasizing the importance of respecting their rights and improving their working conditions to ensure their professional and social stability.
