In its bulletin for September and October 2025, Committee for Justice documents the deepening economic and social pressures facing workers in Egypt, amid continued increases in the cost of living, the erosion of real wages, the resurgence of medicine shortages, rising fuel and cigarette prices, as well as currency fluctuations and growing core inflation.
The bulletin also records the expansion of labor protests across the industrial, service, education, and media sectors, with workers demanding better wages, payment of overdue entitlements, and an end to abusive practices. It further notes the continued use of security measures against legitimate protests, alongside the absence of effective mechanisms to safeguard the rights to organize and to claim fair working conditions.
The report also highlights the rise in cases of unfair dismissal, deteriorating occupational safety standards, and the deprivation of thousands of workers from health insurance and financial entitlements—all occurring as government measures continue to impact the economy and the prices of essential goods and services.
