    The third circuit, Terrorism, convened at the Badr Court Complex, chaired by judge Wagdi Mohamed Abdel Moneim, with members judges Wael Mohamed Omran and Hossam El-Din Fathy Amin, is looking into case number 21109 of 2022 Matariya Criminal Court, registered under numbers 4100 of 2022 East Cairo, 648 of 2020 State Security Supreme, and 348 of 2022 State Security Supreme Criminal Court, known in the media as \u00ab\u00a0Matariya Terrorist Cell\u00a0\u00bb. Fourteen defendants are accused; eight are in custody. The charges by the State Security Supreme Prosecution against the accused include:<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    The first and second defendants led a terrorist group with the aim of disrupting public order, endangering society\u2019s safety, interests, and security, disabling constitutional and legal provisions, preventing state institutions and public authorities from functioning, attacking personal freedoms of citizens, public freedoms, rights, harming national unity, and social peace. They were responsible for developing the armed groups’ structure within the \u00ab\u00a0Muslim Brotherhood\u00a0\u00bb aimed at changing the government by force and carrying out hostile operations.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    Defendants from the third to the last joined a terrorist group, knowing its objectives and methods.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    The third and thirteenth defendants provided material support to an illegally established group.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    The third, sixth, seventh, and thirteenth defendants possessed and acquired explosives for terrorist purposes, undermining security and public order, and used explosives for the purpose of destroying public interest buildings and facilities.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    The third, eighth, eleventh, thirteenth, and fourteenth defendants also possessed and acquired an illegal firearm, \u00ab\u00a0automatic rifle\u00a0\u00bb, intended for use in activities that disrupt public security and violate constitutional principles and national unity.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    The sixth and twelfth defendants used an internet platform for exchanging messages and issuing directives within their terrorist group, utilizing the \u00ab\u00a0Telegram\u00a0\u00bb app for exchanging directives and information related to the group’s activities.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
