The prosecution ordered his detention\, and consecutive decisions were issued to renew his detention until he completed two years in custody\, making his release inevitable due to the legal maximum detention period.  \nHowever\, more than two years and eight months into his detention related to case No. 316 for the year 2017\, the prosecution decided on 24th November 2019 to release Badr Mohammed Badr. He was then transferred from his detention center in Liman Tora prison to the 6th of October Police Department. He was present there for several days and then mysteriously disappeared on 8th December 2019\, as stated by the Arabic Network for Human Rights Information in a previous press release.  \nRoughly three months after his disappearance\, Badr Mohammed’s family reported that he appeared on Monday\, 24th February 2020\, in the High State Security Prosecution\, for investigation in a new case\, No. 1360 for the year 2019. In this case\, the prosecution accused Badr of broadcasting false news and misusing a social media platform (Facebook) and participating in a terrorist group. He was again placed under precautionary detention.  \nIn October 2020\, the Arabic Network appealed to the public prosecutor to stop this grave violation\, which they described as a significant crime against an Egyptian citizen. He was released following the acquittal in May 2017 but was re-arrested by security forces in February 2020 and is currently detained pending the ongoing case.  \nJournalist Badr Mohamed Badr has been held in pretrial detention for over two years on various charges. He was arrested on March 30\, 2017\, in relation to case number 316 for 2017\, Supreme State Security\, on charges of joining a group that opposes the law and constitution\, with the aim of obstructing state institutions from carrying out their work. The prosecution ordered his detention\, and consecutive decisions were issued to renew his detention until he completed two years in custody\, making his release inevitable due to the legal maximum detention period.  \nHowever\, more than two years and eight months into his detention related to case No. 316 for the year 2017\, the prosecution decided on 24th November 2019 to release Badr Mohammed Badr. He was then transferred from his detention center in Liman Tora prison to the 6th of October Police Department. He was present there for several days and then mysteriously disappeared on 8th December 2019\, as stated by the Arabic Network for Human Rights Information in a previous press release.  \nRoughly three months after his disappearance\, Badr Mohammed’s family reported that he appeared on Monday\, 24th February 2020\, in the High State Security Prosecution\, for investigation in a new case\, No. 1360 for the year 2019. In this case\, the prosecution accused Badr of broadcasting false news and misusing a social media platform (Facebook) and participating in a terrorist group. He was again placed under precautionary detention.  \nIn October 2020\, the Arabic Network appealed to the public prosecutor to stop this grave violation\, which they described as a significant crime against an Egyptian citizen. They demanded the immediate release of journalist Badr Mohammed Badr since his detention had legally expired months before\, emphasizing the importance of upholding the rule of law.  \nIt’s important to note that journalist Badr Mohammed suffers from diabetes and needs medical attention\, as previously mentioned by his lawyers and family.  \nBadr Mohammed has been a member of the Journalists’ Syndicate. He served as the editor-in-chief of the Allewaa Al Islami magazine\, Al-Shaab newspaper\, the editorial director of the Afaq Arabiya newspaper\, and the editor-in-chief of the Arab Family newspaper.
